Investigation into Recent Temperature and Rainfall Trends in Mali Using Mann-Kendall Trend Test: Case Study of Bamako

Rainfall and temperature variability analysis is important for researchers policy formulators in making critical decisions on water availability use communities. The Western Sahel, which comprises Mali considered as one of the vulnerable regions to climate change, also encountered challenges climatic shocks such flood drought. This research therefore sought investigate change effects hydrological events trends Sahelian rainfall intensity using Bamako (Mali) a case study from 1991 2020, limited data did not allow an extended period study. Monthly observed provided by MALI-METEO was used validate daily rainfalls African Climatology Version 2 (ARC2) satellite-based product monthly basis. validated model performance Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE) Percent Bias (PBAIS) gave results 0.904 1.0506 respectively. Trends annual maximum temperatures were analyzed Mann-Kendall trend test. result indicated that decreasing, while total increasing but significant at 5% significance level. rate increase 0.475 mm/year according series decreased 0.68 maximum. further found 0.03°C/year To provide more accurate predictions, it recommended studies with sets spanning 60 - 90 years be carried out.
